Jeannine P. Birmingham, CPA,CAE

President and CEO
Recommends and participates in the formation of new policies and makes decisions within existing policies as they have been approved by the ASCPA Board of Directors.  Plans, organizes and directs staff, programs and activities of the Society.  Liaison to the AICPA, Alabama State Board of Public Accountancy and other professional organizations.  Involved with the ALA/CPA/PAC, the ASCPA Educational Foundation and the Federal Tax Clinic. Manages and achieves economical, productive performance, and constructive growth of the Society

Shanna R. Jackson

Executive Assistant and Website Designer

Provides administrative support for the President and CEO.  Designs and updates content for the ASCPA website.  Performs the responsibilities involved with front desk duties including members’ website inquiries and outside request for CPA referrals.  Oversees the general office administration responsibilities including assistance to staff with information technology issues, scheduling of office maintenance and purchasing of administrative supplies. Kirk A. Patton

Chief Financial Officer
Responsible for the financial planning and accounting practices of the ASCPA.   Assists the President and CEO with the planning and establishment of the annual budget.  Handles routine daily financial transactions and prepares routine monthly reports and quarterly financial statements.  Arranges for the audits of the Society and Educational Foundation and the preparation of the tax returns for these two entities. Reviews draft copy of financial statements.  Communicates with the President and CEO any matters of concern and/or questions that the auditors may have. Meet me by clicking on my picture!



Betty J. Barker

Membership Director   
Develops and maintains membership and membership records in the Society and assists the Society, chapter officers and task force members in carrying out Society objectives. Responsibilities include: dues maintenance, membership database, AM4 updates, and recruiting new, associate and student members. Meet me by clicking on my picture!



Mary Frances Garner

Continuing Professional Education Director
Coordinates the overall management and daily administration of the Continuing Education Programs. Coordinates activities of the CPE department designed to provide training and professional development to ASCPA Members. Coordinates all meeting details with vendors, instructors and facilities, prepares daily cash transactions, assists Communications Director with CPE information printed in the ASCPA newsletter, and maintains professional member services relationship with all vendors, members, instructors. Sherry F. Russ

CPE Finance and Self Study Manager
Responsible for day-to-day operations of CPE finances including CPE registrations, transfers, cancellations and member service interaction.  Manage cash receipts compiled daily by the ASCPA’s CPE Department; ensure accurate posting of all receipts.  Produce daily CPE reports and provide them to CFO for posting.  Coordinate the ASCPA seminar curriculum, interface with CPE staff and CPE Committee to execute seminars, clusters and other CPE programs.  Train CPE intern personnel, onsite administrators, and other related staff with regard to planning and implementing CPE projects.  Coordinate all post-seminar CPE evaluations, provide compliance transcripts, and assist with meeting planning and distribution of course materials.

Manage information for ASCPA’s webinars and webcasts offerings. Serve as liaison with ACPEN and CPA Crossings to continuously provide their most up-to-date CPE web offerings for our ASCPA members and colleagues. Provide customer service assistance to members and associates with ASCPA self study courses, including the online registration process issues the customers might experience. Meet me by clicking on my picture!



Jennifer M. Oleksa  

Conference Manager
Jennifer works with the ASCPA Conference Committees in planning and implementing ASCPA Conferences: Industry, Women’s Summit, Annual Meeting, Sandestin, Technology, Financial Accounting and Auditing, and the Governmental Accounting and Auditing Forum.  She coordinates with the committees to conduct continuous evaluation of CPE programs and events.  Jennifer also works closely with facilities and discussion leaders to implement professional development seminars for society members.  She assists with CPE marketing efforts for electronic and print promotion of CPE programs. Diane L. Christy

Communications Director
Directs all aspects of internal and external communications for the Society.  Supervise Communications Coordinator staff position.  Editor of the Alabama CPA Magazine, and manage advertising program for the publication.  Manages all student/educator outreach programs, including Educational Foundation scholarships, Campus Ambassador, accounting club on-campus visits, Educator Conference and Interview Skills Workshops.  Coordinates member volunteer programs and facilitates CPA Ambassador training.  Assists with Young CPA Board initiatives and projects.  Manages financial education efforts such as the annual Tax Hotlines in Montgomery, Mobile and Birmingham; participates with Central Alabama Financial Education Coalition steering committee as chair of Public Awareness committee.  Coordinates exhibitors for Annual Meeting.  Assists with planning and execution of Women’s Summit, Governmental Accounting and Auditing Forum, and new conference initiatives.   Responsible for  creation and buys  of outside media in print and electronic form; liaison with outside sources for creative materials.  Rachel Barwick

Communications Coordinator
Rachel is the staff liaison for the ASCPA’s eleven chapters, is the staff contact for the Young CPA Board and the Young CPA Charity Golf Tournament, works with volunteers and staff on all student outreach programs, assists with the Tuesday BULLETIN, and provides support for the Society’s advertising and marketing efforts.
  
 



Shirley L. Carroll

Peer Review Administrator
Coordinates the AICPA/ASCPA Peer Review Program for accounting firms to ascertain compliance with Peer Review standards and procedures and to require adherence in detected instances.  Coordinates records of reviews of accounting firms, maintains documentation, is the liaison to Peer Review committee and committee chairperson. Processes daily money transactions of Peer Review Administration fees and annual Peer Review Program fees. Meet me by clicking on my picture!
