Classroom Blitz is Coming to your School

The Alabama Society of CPAs’ Young CPAs are continuing their hugely successful 2011 Dollars and Sense program.

The need for financial education, especially for young people, cannot be overstated. It is critical that they are introduced to basic concepts of budgeting, saving and building a favorable credit report at an early age. The program will use the National Endowment for Financial Education’s excellent materials, the High School Financial Planning Program. The student guides are divided into seven lessons, with many interactive activities included. Each student will receive his own workbook and each school will receive 2 comprehensive instructor’s manuals. The date is Friday, November 4, 2011 for the 45-60 minute presentation.

To sign up, please email Boyd Landry, Public Affairs Director, at blandry@ascpa.org. Give Boyd your school’s name and address; your name, phone number and email address; the number of students and the time of the presentation. Because the NEFE materials take 2-3 weeks for delivery, we ask that you plan well in advance so that volunteers can order and receive materials in plenty of time. We will track all information via a Google document, and you will receive a link for this information after you sign up.

At the conclusion of the lesson, the Young CPA volunteers will describe their experiences as certified public accountants, including the wide variety of jobs which are available to CPAs, the excellent earning potential and the flexibility their career affords them to create a satisfying work/life balance.

We appreciate your interest in Dollars and Sense last year; 47 schools participated, 57 volunteers were involved, and 2700 students heard the program. Let’s make this year just as much fun.
