Volunteer Opportunities

Tax Hotlines

Chapters in the four largest markets in the state team up with TV stations in their area for the largest public outreach of each year.  These live, call-in phone banks create a highly-visible CPA presence and cement key connections to local media.

VOLUNTEER:  Look for information in the weekly digital newsletter starting at the end of each calendar year.  The hotlines take place in early February in the Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery and Mobile chapters.

Dollars and Sense Classroom Blitz

The Society’s Young CPAs have taken on the task of combining accounting career presentations with a financial education program. The first week of November they appear before high school audiences with materials provided by the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE).

VOLUNTEER: the call will go out in the October magazine, and through the Tuesday Bulletin. Choose a school or offer to go to your child’s school or your alma mater – first week in November.

Speaker’s Bureau

Universities and high schools invite CPAs to campus for career days and meet the firm events.  We also field speaker requests for college accounting clubs, NABA and Beta Alpha Psi chapters.

VOLUNTEER: The ASCPA provides a PowerPoint template that you can customize, recruitment materials, plus student goodies.  The emphasis is on attaining the CPA designation and telling your personal story.
